It’s March! Time for Scripture Memory Verse #5

What? It’s already March? It’s hard to believe how quickly the time has flown by but easy to believe when you walk (or roll) outside and have 74° weather! I’m so cold natured that appreciation flows easily even when my body is asking me to remove a layer or two!

The advent of spring means the promise of fresh, new growth and so does our scripture memorization! Come on and join me with a verse – you can do it and I promise you won’t be sorry. Pick your own verse or join me with mine:

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives… Col. 1:9 (NIV)

Last year my first March verse was short, sweet, and powerful:
March on my soul, be strong. Judges 5:21 (NIV)
I distinctly remember driving quite a distance to a meeting muttering that little verse over and over on a cool March evening.  I was sleep deprived and weak, but this verse brought strength to my body and soul.

How ’bout a few memorization tips?

  • Set aside regular time – like exercise, brushing teeth, or bedtime with your kids (and their sponge minds!)
  • Use bits of potentially unproductive time like stopping at red lights, waiting for appointments or the carpool…or heaven forbid, ten minutes of television!
  • Be encouraged. You can do it!  I’m cheering you on and praying for you!
  • Get a pawtner – Life’s more fun with friends, and a partner is great for accountability and comradery.

  1. Madge – I just discovered your blog (yesterday?) via facebook. I love buckwheat pancakes!

I have an app on my Android called Remember Me that helps you memorize scripture. You enter the chapter and verse and it finds the text. It keeps track of what you have memorized and what you are working on. It gives you “flash cards” so you can review your verses.

It’s a great app, but only if you use it 🙂 My goal is to memorize one verse a week but I have been lazy lately. You’ve given me encouragement to start up again. Thanks.

    Hope all is well.

    • Hi Jeni,
So great to hear from you! I have never seen the app ‘remember me’. I found it on my iPhone and it looks like it could be a big help! I’ll try it out. I’m game for anything to make memorizing easier!! I’m finding the more I memorize the easier it is, of course there are those times when it seems like I just get stuck. I love to have a partner or partners that can support and encourage each other – like you have for me today!! Thanks so much! What are you memorizing now? I’m in Colossians for a bit.

  2. Madge, thank you for your posts! These past 2 years have really transformed my life. It has been difficult but also sweet. God has shown me so much…I felt a heaviness in my heart builting at the thought of my 50th birthday approaching in 2013, you’re insight and attitude on this subject has changed my heart. You are such a precious gift in my life, and a constant reminder of just how great our God is! I will be following your posts and memorization tips to help me grow closer to Christ. Be blessed my sister 🙂
