In my previous post about Seven Days in Utopia, I briefly shared some noteworthy quotes from the book. The film surprised me by how well the movie depicted the book. It is appropriate for all audiences and had a solid quality message about life, not just golf.
The stage is set as it opens with a quote from Isaiah, “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21
Here are some other noteworthy quotes, but take heed, they may require a spoiler alert for the progression of the movie, but I’m not giving away too much and certainly not the ending!
You don’t choose the game, it chooses you.
Day 1 Driving Range
The first step in finding your game is getting some conviction. If you don’t have conviction your confidence can be corroded.
Day 2 Fly Fishing
Rhythm, balance, and patience is what you need.
You must have a calm mindset – and focus on feel rather than outcome. To stay in balance you have to control emotion.
Day 3 Fairway
Don’t be late in life. Time is too precious to waste.
Paint the shot with the eyes first so our bodies can produce it accurately.
Day 4 Washer Throwing Game
Have respect for tradition and passion for the truth.
Day 5 Flying an Airplane
You can’t play in a tournament unless you’re ready for the unexpected.
When a firefly knows it is trapped it won’t light. Freedom is a powerful force.
Day 6 Play Golf
See it, feel it, trust it. (SFT)
You can’t spend your life trying to validate yourself on the golf course.
Day 7 Cemetery
What will your epitaph say? What do you want people to say about you when you are gone?
See God’s face. Feel His presence. Trust His love.
Gifts aren’t meant to be paid for, they are meant to be passed along.
I’ll leave you with a thoughtful prayer that Johnny (Robert Duvall) prayed before a family meal in the movie. My husband and I have used it recently ourselves.

As a lifetime golfer, I enjoyed this movie immensely. This movie is about the truth
in and about life…peppered with spititual wisdom….about a saving grace for a troubled individual… I truly liked the movie on Golfchannel.

I was watching this movie on Golf Channel and caught the last half hour which is the best part. I saw Luke print DFT on his ball and had to know what is meant and found this site. Great work here. I was inspired.

Was in bed looking for something on TV to make me sleep. Did know what Utopia is all about, except info says something about a golfer.
Loved the movie with all those quotes as spoken, Make you realize what life is all about, at least to me.

This movie touched my soul. I’ve been struggling with some things in recent weeks and the quote “See it, Feel it, Trust it” really spoke to me. I could actually feel God giving me the answer as I watched this movie. I would highly recommend this movie.

I just found this movie and have watched it 2x’s on 2 days. II have played golf for over 40 years and have blow-ups on a golf course myself. Many quotes from the movie hit me but the SFT was the best but the other one was when Duval’s character states that too many people worry about how to hit the ball but the game is played between the ball and the target. Very good movie.
God steered me to this movie as I was trying to decide what to watch one evening. I scrolled through fifty or sixty before this popped up. It was just what I needed.
Scottie Scheffler is a winner before he steps on the course – he made it clear in an interview after his recent Masters win: he is secure in his future and has peace because of his faith in Christ. He loves to win on the golf course, but his ultimate victory is secure. This movie illustrates how we are each challenged to allow our God given gifts/talents to be maximized as we live life – in our homes, in the office, on the golf course, in what ever we do – as long we we Seek Him, Feel His Presence, and Trust His Love to provide us His Truth and give Him the credit at all times.
